& FOSTERING A PASSION FOR LIFE-LONG LEARNING

At Science Matters Preschool we know that children have the ability from a young age to problem solve, think critically and develop skills for life. We believe in encouraging them as early as possible and do so by following the STEAM education model which makes learning fun.

Benefits Of STEAM Learning

To understand the benefits of STEAM education, it’s essential to know where it originated. Initially, it was referred to as STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Later, the A was added to include Arts into the curriculum. By adding arts education to the mix, it makes learning more approachable, fun, and engaging for the children.

STEAM-focused learning has been gaining popularity in Calgary school systems. The goal has been to encourage students to begin taking an interest in these subjects from an early age. It involves embracing teaching skills in a new way that’s fun and can resemble real life.

About Science Matters

As a parent, you want what’s best for your child. That’s why you want to find a preschool that offers them the best parts of learning and fun. With Science Matters, our NW Calgary preschool provides full or half day STEAM-focused early childhood education that will make everyone forget they’re there to learn.

Science Matters’ owners take their 14 years of working in childcare development to create Calgary’s first STEAM-focused preschool.

We know that the first few years of a child’s life are instrumental in molding them as a person later in life. It is in the first five years that they begin to discover lifelong passions and learning styles.

Set in a beautiful little church that’s full of character, Science Matters Preschool strives to give a sense of home away from home. Outside we have a community garden available to teach the kids about where our food comes from and how to grow it.

Additionally, we will be building a CedarWorks playground for the children to explore during their outdoor time. We also have a gymnasium where we will play when the weather doesn’t permit us to be outside.

At Science Matters Preschool, everything we do is based on our philosophy: ‘We believe in creating a space for child-centred learning through play.’
